GDPR compliant

We are continuously improving our staking services. Our goal is to ultimately turn it into a business. As such we need to comply with the regulations. Last days we made an effort to make GDPR compliant. This brings us a step closer to our future goal.

What does this mean for you as a user of our services?

General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR

GDPR legislation became enforceable on May 25th, 2018. It upholds the highest standards of data privacy, and applies to any website that collects data from EU citizens. GDPR applies for everyone that is running a website and has users or visitors residing in the EU.

Let’s try to understand what this means

Using services like Google Analytics, or YouTube implies immediately that personal data (usually your IP address) is sent to the provider. In exchange for this data the user receives free services. Google uses this data to create user targeted advertisements. Suppose when we use on our website a YouTube video from our YouTube channel. When this video is watched, some personal data about the viewer is sent to service provider (YouTube). It’s not compliant with GDPR to include video content and communicate to the user that it’s possible to disable it. After all, by the time the page loads, YouTube (in this example) has already collected some personal data. The GDPR stipulates that users will first have to provide approval through consent before any data is processed. Obtaining this consent needs to be of the utmost importance.

Example in case of video content

We are using video content from our ADA4Profit YouTube channel on our website to educate people and to market our stake pool. By default this content will be blocked, it will give you notice of this via a message “Content is blocked. Please review your Privacy Preferences”.  The service provider will only receive your personal data when you consent with this via the Privacy Preferences. In this case Google. Google will use this data to optimize its Ad engine to target you with personalized ads outside of our website. In case you don’t wish to consent sending personal data to Google the media in question will not play.

This means you as a user are in control of your data, you decide if you want to share personal information with this third party or not.

Further you will be able to find our privacy-policy in the Privacy Preferences, which contains a list of third party services we are using on our website. Every third party has its own data privacy policies. We provide the links to these third party privacy policies in our privacy policy.

Our website makes use of a Cookie bar footer. Via this cookie bar footer you can accept or decline cookies and set your privacy preferences. In the privacy policy you will also find for what reason we are using cookies, what kind of cookies there are and which third parties are using them. You only have to set your privacy preferences and accept cookies once, after that you won’t be asked for it anymore unless you wipe your browser cache and cookies.

Integrity and transparency towards our users and visitors belong to our values as a staking service provider for the Cardano network, protection of your personal data on the internet belongs this as well as informing you as a user what kind of information is being collected and what options you have to opt-out.

We hope you enjoy our website as much as we do and can find valuable information on it about Cardano, our stake pool A4PEU, our campaigns and educational videos.

Cheers, till next blog Ron
